IMD issues yellow alert for hot and humid spell with thunderstorms in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued yellow warnings for hot and humid spell with thunderstorms across Odisha.

Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail till 8.30 AM of April 7, informed the weather department while issuing the following day-wise warning:

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of April 3):

YELLOW WARNING: Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur.
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar Kandhamal, Balangir, and Bargarh.
Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 3 to 8.30 AM of April 4):

YELLOW WARNING: Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, and Koraput.
Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 4 to 8.30 AM of April 5):

YELLOW WARNING: Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 5 to 8.30 AM of April 6):

YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundergarh.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada.
Day 5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of April 6 to 8.30 AM of April 7):

YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
