IMD’s warning, rain alert amid cold wave
Delhi. The Meteorological Department has issued fog and cold wave alert in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan. At the same time, heavy rain alert has been issued in many places in Kerala, Tamil Nadu. According to Skymet Weather, the low pressure area formed on the coast of Sri Lanka has now reached around the Gulf of Mannar. This system can move towards South Tamil Nadu. Due to its effect, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Tamil Nadu also received rain on Thursday. Apart from this, light rain also occurred in Kerala, interior Karnataka. A big drop in both day and night temperatures has been recorded in South Peninsular India, East and North.
According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions are developing in the capital Delhi. On Friday morning, the mercury reached close to 4.3 degrees. The Meteorological Department says that the minimum temperature in Delhi will drop now. However, people will get some relief from the sun. The effect of icy winds will also remain throughout the day. There is a possibility of dense fog in Delhi NCR on December 17.
There is a possibility of rain in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Apart from this, snowfall may increase in high altitude areas. Heavy rains may occur in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and southern interior Karnataka. Light rain is also expected in Andaman and Lakshadweep. Moderate rain may occur in Kollam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur of Kerala.
