Inauguration of the largest workplace Surat Diamond Bourse
Surat: In the latest news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the world’s largest workplace, Surat Diamond Bourse. This place is going to be the world’s largest modern center for international diamond and jewelery business.
This came soon after the inauguration of the newly constructed terminal building of Surat airport. The new terminal is designed to handle approximately 1,200 domestic passengers and 600 international passengers during peak hours. Annual handling capacity can increase to 55 lakh passengers.
Coming back to Surat Diamond Bourse, the corporate office hub is said to transform the city into the diamond trading capital of the world. Credible reports claim that the project is spread over an area of 35.54 acres. It also includes the Central Business District (CBD) and social, commercial and educational facilities.
The Diamond Exchange in Surat will be a hub for trading in jewelery as well as both rough and polished diamonds. This complex is located in Khajod village near Surat in Gujarat.
After inaugurating the workplace, PM Narendra Modi said that Surat’s diamond industry has so far provided employment to about eight lakh people. He further claimed that the new diamond exchange will provide jobs to 1.5 lakh more people.
Surat Diamond Bourse is set to provide many benefits to both domestic and international diamond traders. With this project, Surat’s diamond trade, which is currently worth Rs 2 lakh crore, is expected to grow to Rs 4 lakh crore annually.
