Incidents of cruelty increased in the country’s capital, experts suggested ways to solve it.
New Delhi. The rising incidents of criminal activities in the country’s capital have created fear among the people. The seriousness of these crimes is particularly worrying, and it is worth noting that reported cases represent only a fraction of the total number of crimes that go unreported. Incidents of crime have become a daily reality to such an extent that people have developed emotional resilience and are trying not to be affected or intimidated. However, the recent increase in brutal killings has become a cause for concern, as the widespread brutality is extremely disturbing. Dr. Sneha Sharma, Consultant Psychiatrist, Aakash Healthcare, New Delhi, said, “Murderers may view murder as a last resort due to several factors, such as intense emotional distress, distorted belief systems, perceived danger, lack of options, or control Or the will to power.” However, it is important to acknowledge that there is no single explanation for understanding the factors that lead individuals to commit crimes and the circumstances that lead them to consider murder as a last resort. inspire. Violence often results from a combination of personal, psychological, and environmental and social factors. Looking at psychological factors, there are many factors that can contribute to a person’s propensity towards violence. “These can include untreated mental health conditions, such as antisocial personality disorder, conduct disorder or anger management issues,” explains Dr. Meenakshi Manchanda, associate director of psychiatry at Asian Hospital, Faridabad. It is generally accepted that our behavior, both as young people and as adults, is greatly influenced by our upbringing, the values instilled in us, and the environment in which we grow up. These factors play an important role in shaping our conduct and actions. A history of childhood trauma, abuse, neglect or exposure to violence can increase the likelihood of violent behavior later in life. Dr Manchanda said, “The environment a person grows up in and the society they are a part of can have a significant impact on their mindset. Factors such as exposure to violence, poverty, social isolation, substance abuse, and lack of access to education and mental health resources can contribute to a person’s propensity for violence. Cultural norms and media influence can also shape attitudes and behavior related to violence. On the other hand, according to Dr. Vipul Rastogi, senior psychiatrist at Medanta Gurgaon, individuals with disruptive behavior often display aggressive tendencies from an early age. He said that the people who commit such atrocities are generally anti-social. Dr. Rastogi makes an important point, “They may display violence during their childhood and may even display a tendency towards animal cruelty.” He added that they can also be very insecure people and take any adverse event in their life very personally. Dr. Sharma further explained that the early behavioral symptoms may include several indicators. “Early behavioral symptoms may be propensity toward violence, such as displaying cruelty to animals, persistent aggression, lack of empathy, being impulsive, propensity for violence, or experiencing social isolation, among other characteristics. ” After the recent and extremely brutal murder of Shraddha Walker in Delhi, where she was allegedly hacked to death and hacked into more than 30 pieces by Aftab Poonawalla, around 7 to 8 similar cases have been reported across India. In a month-old incident, a 32-year-old woman was murdered in suburban Mumbai by her live-in partner of nine years, who used an electric saw to cut her body into several parts. For three days after the murder, Manoj Sane (56) tried to dispose of the body and to avoid detection, he cooked some of the body parts in a pressure cooker, fried some, and ground some in a mixer to be used as a stray. fed the dogs. The chilling nature of these murders, along with the criminals’ desperate attempts to hide evidence, makes us all wonder about the thought process behind such heinous acts. It is difficult to understand how anyone can think of committing such an atrocity and muster up the courage to commit it. “Factors contributing to extreme acts of cruelty such as body biting may be due to a combination of psychological factors, personal motives, emotional states, and the specific circumstances surrounding the crime,” explained Dr. Sharma. Dr. Sanjana Saraf, a clinical psychologist and certified physical therapist, said, “Crimes are often organized, well-planned, and well-researched, and the perpetrator usually has little or no sense of guilt. These individuals, who display little or no remorse, often attempt to justify their murderous actions. It is understandable that a person with a sound mind would not think of killing and feel comfortable with it. The warped mindset of those who engage in such acts plays a significant role in their ability to rationalize and accept such extreme behaviors.
