Independent candidates arrived to file nomination riding on a donkey

Bhopal: As the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are approaching, candidates are rushing to complete their nomination process. However, in a surprising turn of events, some candidates have chosen unusual modes of transport to reach the nomination centres.

Priyank Thakur, an independent candidate from Burhanpur constituency, reached the election office riding on a donkey to submit his nomination form. When Thakur was asked about his unique choice of riding, he said that all political parties are plagued with nepotism and are turning the public into donkeys; So he came riding on a donkey to file his nomination.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Thakur Surendra Singh Shera Bhaiya, contesting from Burhanpur assembly seat, opted for a different mode of transport. He left his house in a bullock cart along with some of his supporters and paraded in the city before reaching the Shivkumar Singh Chauraha statue site to submit nomination papers.

He expressed his concern about the rising prices of petrol and diesel in BJP ruled states, making it difficult for the common people to afford it; Hence the bullock cart.

Apart from this, Congress candidate from Saver constituency, Reena Borasi, reached Saver tehsil election office in a tractor to file her nomination. He stressed that Congress has continuously raised important issues like roads, water, unemployment, health and farmers’ problems.

The last date for filing nomination in Madhya Pradesh is October 30, while the scrutiny will be held on October 31. Candidates have time till November 2 to withdraw their candidature. The upcoming elections for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly are scheduled to be held on November 17.
