Tamil Nadu: The party’s founder, Ramadoss, filed an appeal in the Chennai High Court challenging an interim stay order imposed on the proceedings regarding the dispute over the PMK’s election symbol.

Ramadoss had previously filed a suit in the Chennai Civil Court seeking to restrain Anbumani and others from using the PMK’s name, election symbol, and flag. The party’s General Secretary, Vadivel Ravanan, filed a petition in the Civil Court requesting to be impleaded as a petitioner in the same case. The Civil Court, however, declined to admit this petition for hearing.

Subsequently, Vadivel Ravanan filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking a stay on the proceedings of the case. While hearing this petition, Justice T.V. Tamilselvi granted an interim stay on the proceedings—based on the merits of the case—and adjourned the hearing until April 10.

In light of this development, Ramadoss’s counsel—who appeared before Justice T.V. Tamilselvi of the Chennai High Court on Friday—stated that they had already filed a caveat petition asserting that no interim order should be issued regarding the dispute over the election symbol without first hearing their arguments. Anbumani’s legal team alleged that the interim order had been obtained by concealing material facts from the court. Consequently, the Judge ordered the adjournment of the case hearing until March 16.
