Indian Air Force to develop indigenous jammer pod for LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft

New Delhi (ANI): The Indian Air Force is working on a project to develop indigenous jammer pods for the indigenous LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft, IAF officials said on Saturday.
“The Base Repair Depots of the IAF have been tasked with indigenizing many of the components required for its fighter and transport aircraft and other weapon systems and cutting down on imports,” officials said.
Meanwhile, Col Vikram, vice-president, Solar Group Economic Explosives Limited, said the multimode hand grenade is the first product indigenously manufactured by a private industry and handed over to the Indian Army other than ordinance factories.

“We have already manufactured a quantity of 10 lakh and successfully handed it over to the Indian Army. This is a very safe prototype and advanced prototype of a hand grenade. It also has added safety features and its efficacy is much higher than the earlier HE 36 hand grenade.
“It has been very well accepted by the Indian Army and we are looking forward to the next order soon,” he said.

LCA Mk1A is an improved version of the indigenously developed LCA MK1. It has additional features and improvements like self protection jammer. (ANI)
