Inflation hits Arhar Dal, branded Arhar reaches beyond Rs 200 per kg

Despite all the claims and efforts of the government, the prices of tur dal are on fire.
Branded Arhar Dal beyond Rs 200
If you look at the prices of Arhar Dal at online grocery stores, on June 27, the price of one kg branded Arhar Dal has reached Rs 219 per kg on Big Basket. A 500 gram packet of Arhar Dal is available for Rs.102.90. Another online grocery store Grofers has branded Arhar Dal available at Rs.192 per kg. In the last 4 to 5 days, this sharp jump has been seen in the prices of Arhar Dal.
Arhar dal became costlier by 37 percent in 6 months!
According to the Price Monitoring Division of the Department of Consumer Affairs, which monitors prices in the country’s retail market, on June 26, the average price of Arhar Dal has reached Rs 129.4 per kg and the maximum price has reached Rs 180 per kg. Whereas on April 1, the average price was Rs 115.18 and the maximum price was Rs 144 per kg. Whereas on January 1 this year, the average price was Rs 110.45 per kg and the maximum price was Rs 131 per kg. That is, since January till now, there has been a jump of 37 percent in the maximum price of Arhar Dal, while the average price has increased by 17.15 percent.
Government’s efforts have no effect
The government has taken many decisions to crack down on the prices of Arhar Dal, yet the prices are not being controlled. The government is continuously holding meetings with the states regarding the prices of Arhar dal. The central government has asked the states to keep a close watch on the prices of Arhar and Urad Dal and keep verifying the stock position. Instructed to take strict action against those violating the stock limit order.
