INS Kadmat entering Japan for operational turnaround

Tokyo: The Ministry of Defense announced in a press release that INS Kadmatt entered Yokosuka, Japan for Operational Turnaround (OTR) on long range operational deployment in the North Pacific Ocean. The ship will celebrate India’s Navy Day on 4 December in the presence of the Indian diaspora at Yokosuka.
During her stay in Japan from December 2-5, onboard visits including professional interactions and community welfare activities are planned, according to the press release. The interaction with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) will include cross-ship visits, professional exchange of views, a joint yoga camp and a coordination meeting for the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX).

The visit of INS Kadmatt to Japan is aimed at further strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Japan. INS Kadmatt is an indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, fitted with state-of-the-art AS weapon suite.

“INS Kadmat’s visit to Japan and interaction with JMSDF aims to further strengthen maritime cooperation between India and Japan in line with the vision of both countries for the Indo-Pacific,” the Defense Ministry said in a press release. ,

According to a Defense Ministry press release, earlier on November 28, INS Kadmatt refueled with JMSDF Fast Combat Support Ship, JS Towada off Okinawa, under the principles of Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services (RPSS) signed between the two navies. Had done the work.

It further said that the visit of INS Kadmatt to Japan reflects India’s commitment to its relations with Japan. An Indian Navy spokesperson said the visit reflects the growing bilateral cooperation between India and Japan.

In a post shared on Twitter, Indian Navy spokesperson said, “Demonstrating India’s commitment to its relations with Japan and showcasing the operational reach of the #IndianNavy, #INSKadmatt is embarking on a three-day visit #JMSDF reached Naval Base Yokosuka. This visit is a symbol of growing bilateralism.” “Cooperation between India and Japan.”
