Insult to the idol of Goddess, burnt by anti-social elements
Mohla. An incident hurting faith has happened in a village of Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district. In fact, for years the statue of the mother sitting in the village temple has been uprooted and burnt on the banks of the river. After the matter came to light, people associated with faith reached the Manpur SDOP office to file a report in this communal tension case. After this, tension has built up in the area. Following pressure from the villagers, a case has been registered under serious sections on late Saturday night. The case pertains to village Sarkheda, 2 km away from Audhi police station. According to the information received, a Khap Panchayat meeting was organized on Friday in Sarkheda village of Audhi tehsil of Manpur development block regarding a goddess statue sitting in the village temple for years. In the meeting, under the pressure of the separatist Shambhu leaders who are against the deities in Manpur area, it was decided that the said idol should not be worshiped and should be immersed. After this, on behalf of certain people, the idol was uprooted from the temple and loaded in a tractor and taken to the river bank. Here instead of immersing the idol, it was set on fire on the river bank.
