Internet restored in urban areas.

Muzaffarpur: Internet services in the urban areas of Muzaffarpur, which had been temporarily suspended due to the ‘Bihar Bandh’ (shutdown), have now been restored. District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar decided to restore the services after receiving approval from the Home Department. The administration took this step after reviewing the situation and acknowledging the inconvenience caused to the public by the suspension.
Earlier, on Friday evening, the district administration had issued a notice stating that internet services in the Muzaffarpur municipal area and surrounding localities were being temporarily suspended due to compelling reasons. According to the order, the suspension was initially set to remain in effect until 10:00 AM on Sunday, July 26. However, following a review of the situation, services were restored ahead of schedule.
This decision by the administration has brought significant relief to residents of the urban area. The suspension had disrupted online payments, digital services, work activities, and students’ online studies. With the restoration of internet services, the general public, traders, and institutions will once again be able to access their regular digital services.
According to the district administration, the decision to suspend internet services was taken to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. The administration stated that curbing the spread of rumors and misleading information is crucial during major events, protests, or sensitive situations. Consequently, the temporary suspension was implemented as a precautionary measure.
Officials clarified that no orders were issued to suspend internet services in rural areas; the measure was limited to the Muzaffarpur municipal area and nearby sensitive zones. The administration kept a close watch on the situation and decided to restore services after reviewing security arrangements.
Special security arrangements were put in place by the administration during the ‘Bihar Bandh’. Police forces were deployed at sensitive locations, and officials were instructed to maintain constant vigilance. The administration’s objective was to ensure that peace and order remained undisturbed and that the general public did not face undue hardship. Mixed reactions emerged regarding the decision to suspend internet services. Some viewed it as a necessary step to maintain law and order, while others pointed out that prolonged internet shutdowns disrupt daily routines. Such suspensions have a direct impact on online transactions, business operations, and essential digital services.
Traders noted that internet services have become an integral part of modern business. Digital payments, online orders, and various commercial activities rely heavily on the internet; consequently, the suspension caused difficulties for small business owners as well.
Students and young people also expressed frustration over the internet shutdown. The internet plays a crucial role in online learning, preparation for competitive exams, and accessing vital information. However, people felt relieved once the administration restored the services.
Administrative officials have urged the public to disregard rumors and rely solely on official information. They noted that the spread of misinformation via social media can compromise law and order, and therefore, citizens should use digital platforms responsibly.
The Muzaffarpur district administration clarified that maintaining security and public order is its top priority. Necessary measures are taken periodically based on the situation, and restrictions are lifted once conditions normalize.
Internet services have now resumed as usual in urban areas, and the administration continues to monitor the security situation closely. With the restoration of internet services, people hope that normal activities will now proceed smoothly.
