Iran-US tensions: IRGC retaliates against US bases, heated statements on ceasefire

Tehran: Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated once again. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has claimed that it targeted US military bases in the region in response to US airstrikes on Iran’s coastal areas. This development has further heightened the security situation in West Asia.
A statement issued by the IRGC Navy stated that the retaliatory strikes followed the US attacks and targeted US military bases located near the Iranian coast. However, official information on the detailed damage or casualties associated with the attack has not yet been released. This action is being considered a major development in regional tensions.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Azizi, a member of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, has strongly criticized US policies. He said that the US is not serious about the ceasefire or the negotiation process and is continuously violating agreements.
Posting on the social media platform X, Ibrahim Azizi said that the US has once again attacked Iran amid negotiations. He accused the US leadership, saying that the current US President has proven that he has no genuine commitment to the principles of dialogue or a ceasefire.
In his statement, Azizi also stated that repeated ceasefire violations will ultimately lead to US backlash and regret. He sternly stated that the “blame game” strategy will no longer work, as the reality has set in.
This entire development has raised international concern, as relations between Iran and the US are already strained. Recent attacks and retaliatory actions have raised questions about regional stability. Experts believe that if efforts are not made to de-escalate tensions between the two sides, the situation could escalate.
Security agencies in West Asia are on alert following the IRGC’s claim of targeting US bases. Regional countries are also monitoring the situation. However, no detailed official response has yet been issued by the US side on the attack.
Political analysts say such incidents further complicate an already tense situation. Long-standing differences between Iran and the United States are now pointing toward a military confrontation, which could have global implications.
Iranian leader Ebrahim Azizi’s statement, in which he accused the United States of not taking the negotiation process seriously, is also being seen in this context. His statement reflects Iran’s official displeasure.
Overall, the IRGC’s claim of attacking US bases and the sharp statement by an Iranian MP have escalated tensions in Iran-US relations to a new level. The international community’s response to this development and diplomatic efforts could play a key role in the coming days.
