Iranian Warship Approaches Sri Lanka Amid US Submarine Tensions

It is known that an Iranian warship was blown up by an American submarine off the coast of Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Before this incident is forgotten, another Iranian ship is now on the verge of danger. Another Iranian warship is off the coast of Sri Lanka. This raises doubts whether America will blow up this ship too. Sri Lankan Minister Nalinda Jayatissa responded to this issue.

Nalinda announced that an Iranian ship with 100 crew members was near their country’s waters. He expressed concern that this ship would also be sunk. He said that they were trying to rescue the crew on the ship. Speaking on this, Sri Lankan MP Namal Rajapaksa said that the crew of the ship had asked for help from their port, and they were in talks for this and were considering granting permission. He said that he wanted his government to take a decision on helping and rescuing the Iranian ship quickly, otherwise he would adopt the policy followed by the then Sri Lankan government during the Bangladesh Liberation War in the past.

Sri Lanka had sheltered a Pakistani plane during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and helped it refuel. It acted neutrally during this war. Namal Rajapaksa believes that they too may act similarly in this context. On the other hand, the Iranian government has asked Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara to help the ship. Iran and Sri Lanka have good relations. Iran buys a lot of Sri Lankan tea. However, it remains to be seen how the US will react to Iran’s second warship.
