It’s not easy for such players to give up: Hemang Badani

Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badali said that it was not an easy decision to release South African dashing batsman Faf du Plessis from the team. Du Plessis has played for Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiants in his IPL career. He was a member of Delhi Capitals last season. However, Badani said, “It is not easy to release a player like Faf du Plessis. He has excelled in the IPL over the years. It was a tough decision to release him from the team,” Badani said at the Tata IPL Retention Show held at Geostar.

He said that we felt it was time to try for more aggressive and younger players who can adapt to the team’s style of play. Badani reacted to the decision to release Australian batsman Jack Fraser McGurk.. We supported him based on his performance last season.. but now we feel that it is not possible to give him Rs.9 crore.. and decided to release him. Former head coach of the Indian team Anil Kumble believes that Delhi Capitals have good Indian players.. but they need to work on the opening pair. Nitish Rana, KL Rahul, Abhishek Porel, Karun Nair are in the team.. He said that who will play where in the top order will have to be decided.
