Jalandhar: Case filed against five people including a woman on charges of extortion
Jalandhar: Shahkot Police has registered a case against five persons including a woman on charges of extortion, cheating and snatching. Investigating officer Gurnam Singh said that the accused have been identified as Joban Preet Singh of Channan Windi village under Sultanpur Lodhi police station in Kapurthala and his four accomplices. Narinder Singh (58), a resident of Jainpur village, told the police in a complaint that he runs a commission agent shop in Sultanpur Lodhi Anaaj Mandi and on September 9, he received a call. The caller introduced himself as his old labourer and offered to provide labour and invited him to his village Saidpur Jhiri village. The complainant said that when he reached the village, a person accompanied him to the room where a half-naked girl was sitting on the bed and three unknown accused came and pushed her on the bed.
Narinder said that the accused demanded Rs 5 lakh from him and threatened to register a rape case against him if he did not pay the money. The complainant said that when he refused to comply with their demand, the accused beat him for a long time and snatched Rs 15,000, an Apple watch and four ATM cards, forced him to reveal the PIN and sign SBI cheques. Narinder said that the accused withdrew Rs 20,000 using his ATM card and demanded more money. He said that the video has been made viral on social media and they have identified one of the accused, Joshan Preet Singh, who hatched the conspiracy. The investigating officer said that a case has been registered against the accused. No arrest has been made so far and raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
