Jalandhar: Man arrested with one kg heroin

Jalandhar: Commissionerate Police arrested a person involved in heroin smuggling and recovered 1 kg heroin from his possession. CP Dhanpreet Kaur said that the CIA staff team was deployed near Y-Point, Bhagat Singh Nagar. During routine checking, the police team saw a person coming from Slip Road. When he was stopped and questioned, he identified himself as Pawan Kumar alias Sunny, resident of Chheharta Road, Amritsar.
The police team asked him the purpose of coming to Jalandhar, but he could not give a satisfactory answer. In the presence of ACP-Detective Paramjit Singh, the police searched his bag, in which 1 kg heroin was recovered. After this, an FIR was registered under section 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act and he was arrested. He said that three-day police remand has been obtained from the court and investigation is on to find out his ties.
