Jalandhar: Oil tanker crushes two girls from Mukerian

Jalandhar: Two girls died in a road accident near the Army Ground on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway. The girls had stopped at a petrol pump near the Army Ground to refuel their scooter. After refueling, they were walking towards the service road when they were hit by an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that both girls died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Ragini (18), daughter of Vijay Kumar, and Aanchal (21), daughter of Balwant Singh, both residents of Ward No. 2, Gurudwara Kalgiyadhar Colony, Mukerian. It is reported that the girls were on their way to attend a wedding. Station House Officer Daljit Singh stated that upon receiving the news of the accident, the Road Safety Force and Mukerian police arrived at the scene. Police have deposited the bodies in the hospital mortuary and seized the oil tanker. A case has been registered against the driver, and further investigation is underway.
