Jalandhar: Police arrested the friend who stayed overnight with the youth on murder charges.
Jalandhar: Jalandhar police on Monday arrested one of the two accused in the murder of a 20-year-old youth in Guru Ravidas Colony near Rama Mandi. Two of the victim’s friends were staying overnight at Harpreet Singh’s house. A heated argument broke out at 4 a.m. yesterday, following which they allegedly stabbed him to death. Sub-Inspector Narinder Singh, who initiated the investigation, arrested one of the two men. The accused, Taranveer Singh, was arrested from the hospital within six hours as he, too, was injured and undergoing treatment. The SI said he will be produced in court tomorrow for remand. ACP Jalandhar Central Ajay Singh said raids are underway to arrest the other accused, Charanjit Singh Gill, a resident of Paldi village in Hoshiarpur. Both Taranveer and Charanjeet have been booked under sections 103 and 3(5) of the IPC and sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act under FIR No. 370 at the Rama Mandi police station. The victim had reportedly been released on bail in a drug trafficking case just 10 days ago. His father found his body lying in a pool of blood on the first floor of the house. Taranveer has indicated that the three of them had a fight over his relationship with a girl.
In another case, Jalandhar Police Division No. 5 arrested Suba Lahoria of Shivaji Nagar, Basti Danishmandan, for trespassing and attempting to assault a family in the same area. The complainant, Rekha Verma, alleged that on Christmas night, Suba Lahoria, Indu Lahoria, Lovely Gakhlan, Manpreet Kaur, and Arshdeep Kaur entered her house with sharp weapons. They alleged that they quickly ran to the upper floor of the house and shouted for help to save themselves. FIR No. 193 was registered in the case under sections 333, 109, 351 (2), 191 (3) and 190 of the IPC.
