Jalandhar: Raids conducted in the city to prevent children from begging

Jalandhar: As per the guidelines of the Additional Chief Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, the Child Begging Prevention Task Force conducted raids in various areas of the city, including the bus stand, PIMS, Chunmun Mall, and areas near Geeta Mandir Model Town, to curb child begging. District Program Officer Manjinder Singh said that this operation was carried out by different teams comprising the Child Protection Officer, Jalandhar, and other officers.
The team interacted with the people and made them aware about the rights of children, the importance of education, and crimes against children. The district team also made people aware about the evils of child labor, child begging, child molestation, and sexual exploitation. It was also informed that if anyone gets information about children begging or any child in trouble, then information can be immediately given on Child Helpline number 1098 or coordination can be done in the office of District Programme Officer Gandhi Vanita Ashram.
