Jalandhar: The university’s practice sessions were affected due to dense fog.

Jalandhar: Dense fog and rising pollution have affected the practice sessions of athletes. With the All India University Games scheduled for January, coaches and players are looking for ways to adapt to these challenging conditions. Athletics coach Sarabjit Happy said, “Every year at this time, players face breathing difficulties. Sprint events are particularly affected because muscle coordination is reduced, increasing the risk of injury. Intensive training during this period can weaken the body and lead to chest infections.” To cope with these conditions, coaches have modified the training schedule. Happy added, “We are now conducting sessions in the sunlight to minimize health risks, and training must continue. Some athletes are also using paid gyms to maintain their fitness.” Volleyball coaches have also changed their practice timings to ensure that players can train safely.
