Jalandhar: Thieves loot gold and silver worth Rs 80 lakh from a jewellery shop

Jalandhar: At least 12-13 miscreants broke into a jewelry shop in Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar and stole gold and silver items worth approximately ₹80 lakh. The masked thieves attacked Babbar Jewellers around 2:30 a.m. and fled in just 10 minutes. They made off with approximately 20-25 kg of silver and 4-5 tolas of gold. CCTV footage from inside the jewelry shop emerged this morning, showing them ransacking the shop, collecting valuables, and placing them in a bag and a sheet.
The shop owner, Gurpreet Singh, said he learned of the theft in the morning and immediately informed the police at the Basti Bawa Khel police station. He said he received a call at 3:30 a.m. informing him that his shop’s shutter was broken. He said he immediately checked the footage on his phone and contacted the police. The thieves had used an iron rod to break the shutter and easily entered. This incident has once again terrified the city’s residents. Two months ago, a jeweler’s shop in the Bhargo Camp area was robbed. However, the suspect in that case was identified and arrested, and all the stolen valuables were recovered.
