Jalandhar: Youth arrested with 190 grams of heroin

Jalandhar: Kapurthala police arrested a youth and recovered 190 grams of heroin from his possession during a routine naka and checking operation on Thursday evening. According to police officials, a team led by ASI Gurmeet Singh and ASI Harpreet Singh was checking vehicles on the Kapurthala-Sultanpur main road towards Kharbuja Mandi as part of an intensive campaign against drug trafficking under the NDPS Act.
During the check, police stopped a youth riding a motorcycle without a registration number. Finding his movements suspicious, the police stopped him and searched him, during which a packet containing 190 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. He was detained on the spot and the motorcycle and the contraband were seized. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway to identify the source of the seized heroin and other individuals involved in the network. The accused is a resident of Mohalla Sundar Nagar, Kapurthala.
