Jammu: 2,000 chickens burnt alive in poultry farm fire

JAMMU: More than 2,000 chickens died in a fire at a poultry farm on the outskirts of Jammu city, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday night at the farm of Ranjit Singh, Egregoron, in Doke Jagir area of Akhnoor tehsil here.

Officials said the fire, which broke out suddenly, quickly spread throughout the poultry facility and engulfed the entire farm.

He said more than 2,000 chickens died in the massive fire.

They are trying to assess the magnitude of the damage and investigate the cause of the fire, he said.
