Japan’s factory output fell at a slower pace in May

Business Business: Japan’s factory output fell at the slowest pace in five months in May, although a drop in new orders narrowed. Factory output in Japan fell for a ninth month, but the pace was faster than in April, a private survey showed. U.S. tariffs have dampened demand, especially for cars and other products.

There are positive signs, though. Cost inflation fell to a 14-month low in May and job growth rose for the sixth consecutive month. Companies made new hires, with expectations of a boost in output.
