New Delhi. Today Jatiya Party announced candidates for 289 constituencies for the 12th round of general elections. Today Jatiya Party announced candidates for 289 constituencies for the 12th round of general elections. Party secretary Mujibur Haq Chono announced the names of the candidates at a press conference at the party’s presidential palace in Benani. Among the candidates, JP President GM Quadru will contest from Rangpur-3 and Daka-17.
His wife, Japanese MP Sharifa Quader, will contest from Dhaka 18, a reserved seat. However, in the last election, party supporter and opposition leader Roshan Ershad had contested from this constituency, so JP did not field a single party leader to contest in Mymensingh 4 district.

He has not yet received his nomination papers for the elections to be held on January 7 this year. His son, Rajir al-Maha Ershad, MP, was not nominated. Party general secretary Mujibur Haq Chunu announced the names of the approved proposed candidates at the party’s Banani headquarters on Monday (November 27). He said that Roshan Ershad has not yet accepted the nomination but in his honour, the seat of Mymensingh-4 will remain vacant. Chunu also announced that Jatiya Party leader JM Quader will contest from Dhaka-17 and Rangpur-3 constituencies in the upcoming 12th assembly elections.

Moreover, despite the symbolic announcement of a shortlist of 300 seats on the “plough” (party symbol), as Chonu pointed out, a shortlist of 289 seats was announced. The party announced that candidate committee chairman and Jatiya Party president JM Quader have finalized the list of candidates after consultation with the executive committee members. The names of the candidates were announced in the evening after the selection process.

Ahead of the 12th general election, Jatiya Party actively involved about 1,800 party members in filing nomination forms. Of these, 557 forms were submitted on November 30, 622 forms on November 21, 331 forms on November 22, 227 forms on November 23 and 15 forms were submitted on November 24 from party recognized candidates.
