Jatra artiste ‘Sahoo Bhauja’ crosses the limits yet again, Malkangiri Police files case against her for obscene dance performance
Malkangiri: Odia jatra artiste Bhagyashree Sahoo, popularly known as ‘Sahoo Bhauja,’ reportedly crossed the limits yet again with her bold and obscene dance performance in Malkangiri district of the state two days ago. Malkangiri Model police took a sou moto cognizance of the incident and registered a case against her.
Locals of the Kotameta area of the district had organized a jatra show in which Sahoo Bhauja performed. In some of the videos of the event which went viral on different social media platforms, she can be seen indulging in obscene dance performance. The incident became a talk of the town in the district.
After knowing about the incident, the Malkangiri Police registered a case against her under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (obscene acts and songs). A case was also registered against the organisers of the jatra show.
Meanwhile, based on the direction of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Malkangiri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) also initiated a departmental probe against Mathili police station Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Debabrata Mallik for allegedly not taking action despite being present at the jatra show.
Sources said that Mallik, who was found sitting on the first row along with others, was enjoying Sahoo Bhauja’s performance.
