Jewelery worth Rs 27 lakh looted on the highway

Bareilly. Armed bike-borne miscreants looted jewelery worth Rs 27 lakh from a jeweler near Harraya Kishanpur village on Pilibhit-Tanakpur highway in Bareilly division of Uttar Pradesh. The jeweler was returning home on Tuesday night by bike after closing the jewelery shop. On the way, the miscreants riding a bike opened fire and then attacked him on the head with an illegal pistol, due to which Saraf got scared. The miscreants ran away with jewelery and both the bags of money. Police is busy searching for the miscreants. But till Wednesday morning, the miscreants were not caught. Dayashankar, a resident of Manpur village of Pilibhit, has a jewelery shop near Bithara bus stand. On Tuesday night, between 7 and 8 pm, Saraf was returning home by bike after closing the jewelery shop. The jewellery, and a bag of money were hanging on the handle of the bike. Dayashankar told the police that when they reached near Harraya Kishanpur on Tanakpur Highway, two miscreants riding on an Apache bike came from behind. They tried to stop him. But he did not stop, due to which a miscreant opened fire. His fire missed, but the other’s bullet missed him. Meanwhile, a miscreant hit the butt of the pistol on his head. This frightened him. He stopped the bike, then the miscreant ran away with the bag hanging on the handle. Dayashankar informed the police.

Police started searching for the miscreants along with Dayashankar but till midnight the miscreants were not found. The jewelers told that the bag contained shop jewelery worth Rs 25 lakh, and mortgaged jewelery worth Rs 200,000. Along with this, cash worth Rs 38 thousand was there. The police registered the FIR after noon. Along with this, police officers are busy investigating the incident from night till Wednesday morning. But, the miscreants have not been caught. The police are not able to find any clue about the miscreants. After this, the police is busy searching for the miscreants from the CCTV cameras installed at the shops on the highway. Where did the miscreants come from and where did they escape to. This is also being investigated. Information is also being collected about the visitors.
