Jharkhand becomes debtor in fight against Naxalism, CRPF owes Rs 11,348 crore to the state

Ranchi. Jharkhand is paying a heavy ‘price’ for the deployment of central forces in the state to fight against Naxalism and maintain law and order. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has made a claim of Rs 11,348 crore 58 lakh on the state government. Last year, the state government had paid Rs 1,700 crore in dues to the CRPF. The Home, Jail and Disaster Management Department of the state government has written a letter in this regard to the Director General of Police of the state, seeking complete details of the deployment of central forces, payments made so far and outstanding etc., so that a decision can be taken on the payment of the claim amount. . It is noteworthy that as of today, 132 companies of CRPF are deployed in the state.

These have been installed mainly in Naxal affected areas of the state. These forces have been deployed for more than a decade and a half. In its review last year, the Home Ministry of the Central Government had found the total number of districts under Naxal influence in the entire country to be 70. Of these, the number of districts most affected by Naxalism is 25. In Jharkhand, 8 districts are highly influenced by Naxalites, while 8 other districts are considered to be moderately influenced. The highly Maoist affected districts are Chatra, Giridih, Gumla, Khunti, Lohardaga, Latehar, Seraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, while the moderately affected districts include Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, East Singhbhum, Simdega, Garhwa, Giridih and Hazaribagh. On the basis of intelligence reports of IB and Police, operations are continuing in all these districts with the help of Central Para Military Forces and the influence of Naxalites has also reduced to some extent. The overall number of Naxalites in the state is now reduced to a few hundred, but 132 companies of central forces are deployed to maintain law and order and peace in the Naxal-affected districts. About 85 thousand soldiers, including central and police forces, are deployed in the state.
