Jharkhand: Rights organizations suggest India Bloc’s victory formula for state, Lok Sabha elections

Loktantra Bachao Abhiyan (Save Democracy Campaign) 2024, run by human rights organizations and civil society organizations in Jharkhand, which is ideologically opposed to the communal hatred prevalent in the country, has proposed seat sharing based on the probability of victory on 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Suggestions have been given to the leaders of Bharat Block on the formula. , “Based on feedback from training sessions, padyatras and meetings with local people, we have tried to ascertain the chances of victory of the parties in the Indian alliance on 10 out of the total 14 Lok Sabha seats and wrote a letter to party chiefs on Monday Is. , On the remaining four seats, we do not have proper response, so we have not included them in our list,” said Siraj Dutta, one of the campaign members and a human rights activist. Incidentally, more than 40 human rights groups and civil society organizations in Jharkhand, ideologically opposed to the communal hatred spreading in the country, have launched the Save Democracy 2024 campaign to oust the BJP from power in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Jharkhand. The campaign delegation had met senior leaders of Jharkhand Congress and JMM in December last year and sought a call from the central leadership of the Bharat bloc to oust the BJP in the 2024 general elections in the backdrop of recent setbacks in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Strong alliance and planned conflict were suggested. assembly elections. “We have written a letter to the state leadership of JMM, Congress, RJD and Left parties, urging a strong grassroots alliance on each Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand,” Siraj said. “The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are very important for the future of the country and democracy. The Indian alliance should ensure that there is only one consensus candidate against the BJP on every seat. But, regrettably, coordination has still not been achieved on seat distribution. It is necessary to select local candidates as per public demand. Candidates should be those who stand with the tribals and indigenous people in the fight for water, forests, land and survival and struggle on public issues,” said the letter addressed to the leaders of the Bharat Alliance. The letter further said, “The alliance should now pay full attention to organizing public relations programs based on public issues, which is lacking so far.” “Based on people’s demand and electoral history, the campaign has assessed 10 selected Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand and suggested that Congress should field candidates on Khunti, Singhbhum, Ranchi and Lohardaga seats, while JMM should field candidates on Jamshedpur, Giridih. , Dumka and Rajmahal constituencies should field candidates. While RJD and CPI-ML should field candidates from Chhatra and Koderma seats respectively,” the letter said. A member said, “We are yet to take a decision on Dhanbad, Godda, Hazaribagh and Palamu seats.” In 2019, the BJP and its ally AJSU won 12 out of 14 seats, while the Congress and JMM got one seat each from Singhbhum and Rajmahal respectively.
