J&K Police And Indian Army Dismantle Two Terror Modules In Baramulla
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the Indian Army through joint operations, have successfully uncovered two terror modules in the Baramulla district over the past couple of weeks. SSP Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure, confirmed these developments on September 26.
He stated, “In Baramulla, over the past two weeks, two terror modules were exposed… We are sharing information based on the bust of a terror module on September 14 in the Uri area.”
The first incident took place on September 14, when security personnel, during routine checks in Paran Pillan village of Uri, observed suspicious movement by two individuals. Upon their apprehension, illegal weaponry was discovered in their possession. The suspects, identified as Arif Channa and Zahid Hasan Malla, were found carrying two pistols with silencers, four pistol magazines, five live grenades, and 29 pistol rounds. Further investigation, as stated by SSP, revealed that they were acting on the instructions of Pakistan-based handlers, with the intent to supply these weapons to Lashkar-e-Taiba for a major terrorist operation.
In a subsequent operation conducted on the night of September 25-26 in Beerwah, Budgam, a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence agencies led to the apprehension of four suspected individuals. The operation yielded the recovery of three pistols along with other warlike equipment. The investigation into this development is ongoing.Upon further investigation, the SSP revealed that additional arrests were made, including one terrorist and five on-ground workers, among whom two were women.
Furthermore, on September 23, Baramulla Police, in conjunction with the Army and Central Armed Police Forces, successfully detained two terrorists affiliated with LeT/TRF at Tapper Pattan and Takiya Wagoora in Baramulla. The operation resulted in the seizure of incriminating material. A case has been filed under UAPA at the Baramulla police station in connection with this incident.
Aftar Ahmed Lohar, a resident of Poonch was also apprehended in connection with the investigations. Shedding light on the expansive network operating from Kashmir to Poonch, the SSP said, “They were planning to carry out a major terrorist act… In this case, we have made one more important arrest. His name is Aftar Ahmed Lohar, and he resides in Poonch.”
