JNC launches college automation system

PASIGHAT: In a historic milestone for higher education in Arunachal Pradesh, Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) here in East Siang district launched a comprehensive college automation system on Friday.

The initiative marks a significant transition towards a digital, transparent, and efficient administrative framework. With this launch, JNC has set a new benchmark for administrative efficiency and digital integration in the region.

Addressing the inaugural function, Pasighat East MLA Tapi Darang emphasised that adopting such technology is vital for modern governance. “While this should have been initiated earlier, its implementation today is a major stride forward. This system will foster transparency and efficiency, ultimately easing the difficulties students face, such as long queues during the admission process,” he said, and commended the college administration for its proactive stance.

Reaffirming his commitment to improving the institution’s infrastructure, the MLA announced his full support for the construction of a bore well in the upper campus to permanently resolve the college’s water supply challenges.

JNC Principal Dr Gindu Borang described the launch as a defining moment in his mission to instil accountability within the institution. He noted that the system will replace cumbersome manual processes, drastically reducing human error while optimising everything from admission data to daily administrative operations.

“By digitising these workflows, the college aims to shift its focus from clerical tasks to academic excellence,” he said, and added that the successful deployment of the software is a testament to the college’s resilience and its commitment to evolving alongside the rapidly changing global technological landscape.

Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang said that in the current era of artificial intelligence, automating manual work is a necessity, not just a luxury. He thanked the MLA and his team for their support, noting that such encouragement empowers the institution to reach higher standards. He informed that the system will serve as a centralised hub, providing students and staff with accurate, real-time data, thereby enhancing the overall campus experience.

During the technical presentation, CS Associate Professor Koj Taro explained that the system is currently in its initial phase. “It is designed to eventually manage the entire student lifecycle, including admissions, attendance, hostel and employee management, as well as tracking of students’ progress, assessment, and evaluation,” he said.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Councillor Kamin Lego, JNC Alumni Association representative Aning Borang, and PWD Executive Engineer Kaling Panggeng, along with HoDs and the technical team.
