Job Scheme Trouble: 10,368 workers in Julurupadu struggle

Employment Guarantee Scheme.. This scheme, which was supposed to be a support for the poor, is now becoming a curse for the laborers. There are a total of 21,695 laborers in the Julurupadu mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, out of which 10,368 people have job cards. Out of these, more than 800 are going for employment work. Those who are currently going for work have not received a single paisa for the last two months. As per the rule, money should be deposited in the accounts of the laborers every week, but no payments have been made from the government for the last nine weeks. It seems that wages worth about Rs. 48 lakhs are pending in Julurupadu mandal alone. The laborers, who have no agricultural work locally and are hoping for employment work, are now roaming around banks and offices, but they are not getting any clear assurance from the authorities.
The labourers are expressing their grievances and saying, “Even though they are working hard in the tent, there is no result. It is becoming difficult to spend time at home.” We have to wait and see when the dues of Rs. 48 lakh will be released and when the labourers will get the result of their hard work. Responding to this matter, EGS Mandal APO Rama Rao said that the release of funds has stopped at the government level and the issue has been brought to the attention of higher authorities. He said that the dues will be paid soon and the labourers should not worry.
