Juel Oram said- 2024 will be my last election

Rourkela: Veteran BJP leader and sitting Sundargarh MP Jual Oram on Sunday said 2024 will be his last election as he wants to make way for the new generation after completing 35 years in electoral politics.

That day, Jual reached Rourkela railway station after being named as the BJP’s Lok Sabha (LS) candidate from Sundergarh for the seventh consecutive time. Hundreds of his followers gave him a warm welcome.
Addressing media persons, the former Union Minister said that the upcoming elections will be his last as he intends to make way for younger leaders. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda for reposing faith in him and allowing him to contest from Sundergarh.

About his BJD rival Dilip Tirkey, Jual said the ruling party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Sundergarh is his younger brother, a good person and star international hockey player. But Dilip lacks experience and is a relative novice in electoral politics.
Juul claimed that there is a wave of support for the PM across the country due to the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government. People across the country want PM Modi to return for the third term.

He told that his election strategy will be to go to the doorsteps of the people of his constituency and seek their blessings along with votes. “Based on the achievements of the Modi government and my direct connect with the people, I am confident of my sixth victory from Sundargarh,” Jual said.
If Jual successfully wins the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it will be his second hat-trick after his consecutive victories in 1998, 1999 and 2004.

Later in the day, Jual met BJP leaders and workers at the party office in Sector-3 here and left for Rajgangpur where he inaugurated the BJP’s Lok Sabha election office. However, he had to cut short his Sundergarh trip and leave for Delhi via Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar after he was called to attend an urgent BJP meeting in Delhi.
Local BJP leader Latika Patnaik said the MP had to flee to Delhi because he had been asked to attend a meeting of the BJP’s election manifesto committee, of which Jual is a member.
