Dumka (IANS). Jamshedpur resident Amarnath Singh, a history-sheeter, was shot dead at Basukinath Dham in Dumka district of Jharkhand. The incident took place on Thursday night around 12 o’clock.
Amarnath along with his family members went to Deoghar and Basukinath in the form of Kanwarias for water offering and worship. His murder is believed to be the result of gang war.
It is being told that those who shot him had also come in the guise of Kanwarias. When Basukinath was having tea with his nephew at a shop near Nandi Chowk, two men disguised as kanwariyas took out a pistol from their bag and fired three or four bullets against his forehead. He died on the spot. The assailants fled on foot.
Shravani fair is going on from Sultanganj in Bihar to Deoghar and Basukinath in Jharkhand these days. The whole area is buzzing with kanwariyas and visitors day and night. Amarnath Singh was with his nephew Manish Kumar of his village after offering prayers, while Amarnath’s wife Neha Singh, four people accompanying him and other family members were roaming around the fair.
Hearing the sound of firing, a large number of policemen and local people present nearby took him to the hospital, where the doctor confirmed his death.
Amarnath was a resident of Jamshedpur Gaur Basti, Krishna Nagar Mango. He was earlier a member of Jamshedpur gangster Paramjit Singh’s gang. After killing Paramjit, he formed his own gang. Gang war is believed to be the main reason behind the incident.
