During a recent interaction, Karan Johar specifically highlighted the closing scene of Konkona Sen Sharma’s The Mirror in Lust Stories 2, in which a vegetable vendor is possessed by Tillotama Shome and Amrita Subhash. Karan said that he has never seen a more captivating display of talent than this from a vegetable seller.
He emphasized the unique nuances of the scene, mentioning pauses, silences, awkwardness, and an uninterrupted resolution – all elements, according to him, that only an actor-turned-director can arrange. Karan admitted to watching the scene by rewinding it three times, as it affected him deeply on different emotional levels. Apart from praising the brilliance of the entire film, Karan called it tremendous and urged filmmakers and cinephiles to watch this moment in particular.
