Karur: Speaker injured after iron rod falls on him during Thaweka public meeting

Tamil Nadu: A party spokesperson was injured when an iron rod attached to the party flag fell on a Thaveka public meeting in Karur on Wednesday night. Police have filed a case against the party’s city administrator.
A public meeting was held on 80 Feet Road in Karur to explain the party’s policies on the occasion of the Tamil Nadu Victory Party’s third anniversary on Wednesday night.
When the party’s publicity secretary, Nanjil Sampath, began speaking at the meeting, it began raining. However, he continued speaking regardless. The rain soaked the ground, and an electric leak occurred in the iron wire attached to the party flag near the stage, causing the flag to catch fire.
Seeing this, party executives immediately disconnected the power from the generator to the wire that was attached to the party flag. An executive present near the stage saw the party flag burning and tried to extinguish it with a stick. At that moment, the iron wire bent and fell on Speaker Jagathishpandian, injuring him. Party members took him to a nearby hospital.
Manoj Kumar, a resident of the 80 Feet Road area, filed a complaint about the incident at the Karur City Police Station. Based on this, the police are investigating and filing a case against Thaveka’s Karur City Administrator, Saravanakumar, for negligently organizing the meeting.
