I have had the opportunity to visit many universities in the country. I have found the campus of this university to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. The sages and saints of Kashmir have always been a symbol of learning for the world.
The saying of one of their saints that food will last only as long as we have forests is a universal message that no one should ignore. We must protect and maintain our forests as they are the great wealth of our country. The President said that the logo of the university says that God should take us from darkness to light. This light should be of knowledge and education which will benefit the society at large.
The President said that he is very happy to note that out of the 21 gold medal winners honored at the convocation, 17 are girl students and scholars. Women empowerment is the mission of the country and I am happy to know that Kashmir is leading this national mission from the front. The President recalled the contribution of Kashmiri women from ancient to modern times. He also expressed satisfaction that the women of Kashmir are maintaining this tradition.
The poetic description of Kashmir as heaven on earth is very apt. Anyone visiting this place realizes that the poet has accurately depicted the beauty and grandeur of this land. The President wished a bright future for all the students/scholars who received degrees and felicitations.
