Kerala: Former minister Antony Raju’s plea dismissed in Menaur theft case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former minister Antony Raju suffered a setback in the mainour theft case after the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court rejected his appeal seeking quashing of the sentence. The case was heard by Judge A Nazeera.

The court had earlier sentenced the former minister to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10000 for tampering with evidence to help a foreign national accused in a drug case. The Nedumangad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court had earlier sentenced Antony Raju. The first accused, a court employee, Jose, was also sentenced to three years in prison. Since the sentence was less than seven years, the Magistrate Court had earlier granted bail to the accused until the verdict in the appeal.
