Punjab: Congress writes letter to women’s panel

Punjab: Opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa has written to the National Commission for Women (NCW) demanding action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He alleges that the Chief Minister made derogatory and sexist remarks against women during a Women’s Day event in Sangrur. In a complaint signed by Congress MLAs to NCW Chairperson Vijaya Kishor Rahatkar, Congress leaders alleged that CM Mann’s comments at the function in Sunam on March 8 were “misogynistic, objectifying, and unbecoming of a constitutional authority.” Bajwa claimed that CM Mann used the word “patola” for a female student, a common Punjabi word often used to describe a woman’s physical attractiveness.
