Kerala: Suspect in attempted murder case commits suicide under police pressure

KOCHI: A young man committed suicide by hanging himself in his bedroom after seeing a police team arrive at his house. Sridhar (20), son of Sanal, a resident near Eroor Labour Junction, committed suicide. Seven police officers, led by the SI of Tripunithura Hill Palace station, arrived at the house around 11:30 am after receiving information that Sridhar, who was wanted in a 2025 attempted murder case, was at home. Upon seeing the police, Sridhar went into his bedroom and locked the door. The police waited for an hour, but Sridhar did not open the door. When the police called, Sridhar’s father, Sanal, came home, broke open the kitchen door, and went inside.
The group then broke open the bedroom window and found Sridhar hanging from the ceiling fan. No one else was in the house at the time of the incident. Hill Palace police said that Sridhar is an accused in four cases, including one under the POCSO Act. He is also an accused in the case of attempting to kill a biker in Kaniampuzha on December 13, 2025. The police had also come to Sridhar’s house two weeks ago, but he had fled upon seeing them that day. His father is an employee of the Tripunithura Municipality. Mother: Maya. Sister: Ammu. The body is in the mortuary of Tripunithura Taluk Hospital and will be cremated after a post-mortem examination at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital.
