Kerala: Vandiperiyar rape-murder investigating officer suspended

Thiruvananthapuram: The police department on Thursday suspended Inspector TD Sunil Kumar, the investigating officer of the Vandiperiyar rape and murder case.

The Kattapana POCSO court, after acquitting the accused, had made adverse remarks against the officer in its decision. There were allegations that the officer made deliberate mistakes. Also, the evidence collected from the crime scene was not stored properly.

The suspension will last for two months and an oral inquiry will be conducted against the officer. Ernakulam Rural Additional Superintendent of Police will conduct the investigation.
