Kerala: Young man arrested for allegedly stealing a student’s gold jewelry.

Kerala: Police have arrested an accused in a case of theft of gold ornaments belonging to a UKG student, just days after the elections. Arimbra Puthanaparamba Thorakkat Umar (36) was arrested for allegedly stealing a half-sovereign gold bangle from the wrist of the daughter of Saithalavi, a member of the Arimbra Puthanaparamba church. A gold coin was also recovered in the village. The incident occurred early Tuesday afternoon. Children going to school by school bus were being targeted for their gold ornaments. On the day of the incident, as the children were returning home from school, a man, who had his face turned away from a nearby garden, forcibly snatched a gold bangle from the hand of a frightened child.
The children had reported that a man wearing a black shirt and trousers and covering his face with a cloth had robbed them. The Kondotty police, who registered a case based on the parents’ complaint, examined the CCTV footage from the scene but could not find the man in black clothes. However, they later noticed a man wearing a white shirt passing by the bus stop where the children had alighted.
