Kidnappers kidnapped children, accused arrested
Mira-Bhayandar: A man panicked when he received a call from kidnappers on Sunday, informing him that his 17-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son were in their custody. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, instructing 49-year-old Deepak Kumar Gupta to deliver the amount to a specified address.
The message also included a threat to tie bombs to children’s stomachs.
The creepy message included a threat that said there were bombs strapped to the children’s stomachs, and that the kidnapper claimed to have the remote control. The ominous demand states that if the Guptas want to see their children alive, they must follow the instructions and bring a specified amount of money to a specified location.
Gupta, who runs a shoe shop in Naigaon, immediately informed the police about the missing children and the threatening call he received around 8 pm, following which demands were made from different phone numbers.
Three teams were deployed to save the children
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Purnima Chowgule Shringi and Assistant Commissioner of Police Padmaja Bade deployed three teams to activate the entire zone, besides activating their key informer network and electronic surveillance system. Acting on a tip-off, one of the teams managed to safely rescue both the children, who were found locked inside a house in Meenakshi Nagar area of Kashimira at around 10 pm. Five hours later, Jai Prakash Gangaram Gupta alias Sonu, 23, resident of Kashigaon, Mira Road, and Vipul Shashikant Tiwari, 20, were also nabbed from Madhuban area of Vasai East around 1 am. Police personnel, Ashok Patil, who was part of the team, was injured while chasing the kidnappers, who made a desperate and unsuccessful attempt to escape after seeing the police team.
“The entire operation was conducted in rapid secrecy by our personnel who had to wear different costumes to avoid being seen by the kidnappers and at some places meet with people to obtain clues about the children and the kidnappers- Had to meet, which were suspicious locations.” A senior police officer said.
Kidnapper arrested in Vasai East
Meanwhile sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 364 (A) (kidnapping for ransom), 387 (extorting person by putting him in fear of death or grievous hurt), 342 (whoever wrongfully confines any person) Will commit an offense under. They have been sent to police custody till December 29 after being produced in the court on Monday under sections 120 (simple imprisonment) and 120 (B) (punishment for criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code against the kidnappers.
Investigation is underway to find out whether ransom was the motive or there was some other reason behind the crime as the complainant is from an ordinary background. Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Wagh has been appointed the investigating officer in the case.
