Killai accident: Panneerselvam meets the injured
Tamil Nadu: Twenty people were seriously injured when homemade explosives exploded during a temple festival in Killai Kuchipalayam village near Chidambaram on Monday night. All the injured are being treated at the Cuddalore District Government Medical College Hospital in Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram. Following the incident, panic gripped the area, and the local administration launched rescue and relief operations.
Meanwhile, former Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam visited the hospital on Tuesday and met the injured. He inquired about their well-being and distributed bread, milk, and fruits. He inquired about the treatment status of the patients from the hospital administration and stressed the need to provide better medical care to the injured.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, he said that he had come to meet the injured on the instructions of the DMK leadership. He said that the state government should immediately provide relief and assistance to those affected by the incident, ensuring that there is no shortage of treatment and care. He also said that the government should take such incidents seriously and strengthen security measures in the future.
He also made a political statement, saying that the DMK was the party that enabled other parties in the alliance to work hard and achieve success. He said that if other parties are now talking about joining forces with the DMK or demanding positions, this is also possible because of the DMK leadership. He mentioned Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying that it was under his leadership that the political alliance was strengthened and various parties found direction to work.
He reiterated that his priority at present is the condition of the injured and arrangements for their treatment. He said that the government should immediately accelerate relief measures and provide necessary assistance to all affected families. He also urged the hospital administration to ensure that no patient’s treatment is compromised.
This incident has created an atmosphere of concern in the area. Locals are also demanding the administration to further strengthen security and surveillance during such events. Doctors are constantly monitoring the condition of all the injured hospitalized, and their treatment is ongoing.
An administrative investigation is expected to determine the cause of the accident and prevent future incidents.
