Kosaria Marar Patel Samaj celebrated Maa Shakambhari Jayanti

Mahasamund. Kosaria Marar Patel Samaj celebrated the birth anniversary of Maa Shakambhari, the patron goddess of the society, in village Nandgaon on Monday. On this occasion, women, children and men of the society took out a Kalash Yatra with chants of Mata.
The Kalash Yatra started from Patel Samaj Bhawan and vegetables were distributed along with a tour of the village. During this, the heads of the society described the story of the origin of Mata Shakambhari in detail. A special feast was organized in the program.
On this occasion, the heads of the society addressed the program and said that in Hinduism, Maa Shakambhari Devi is considered to be the incarnation of Maa Durga. Shakambhari Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of Paush month. Maa Shakambhari Devi is also called the ‘Goddess of Vegetarianism’. According to mythological beliefs, when there was a terrible famine on earth, Maa Shakambhari saved the lives of her devotees by providing them vegetables and fruits. For this reason she is called Shakambhari Devi.
