KSRTC drivers in Kerala test positive for alcohol after eating Jackfruit!

Kerala: KSRTC drivers in Kerala were left shocked after failing a breathalyzer test. They had in fact not touched liquor. All they had had was honey jackfruit.

Later tests revealed that the fruit and not alcohol that was behind the false readings of the drivers. Last week, during a routine breathalyzer test before their routes, the drivers were shocked.

They found a blood alcohol reading of 10, which is much above the legally permissible limit. However, none of them had touched a drop of alcohol that day. They had just had jackfruits.

To verify the claim of the drivers KSRTC officials conducted an experiment. A driver who had earlier tested negative was asked to eat jackfruit. Moments later, the breathalyzer sounded its alarm again.

However it is believed that a few ripe fruits and group of foods may contain alcohol and give positive results on being tested with a breathalyzer.
