Latur News: Intellectually disabled person beaten to death, six people arrested

Maharashtra: Six people were arrested after a group of villagers allegedly beat up a 40-year-old intellectually disabled man in Maharashtra’s Latur district, police said on Saturday.Police have registered a case against 50 people in connection with the incident that took place in Hadolti village in Ahmedpur tehsil on May 29, an official said.

Six accused have been arrested, he said.According to police, the victim Dilip alias Vilas Nagorao Kalgire was intellectually disabled and on the day of the incident, he thrashed some villagers on the road and seriously injured one of them with an iron rod.A group of around 50 to 60 villagers then tied the victim to a tree and thrashed him, following which he was rushed to a hospital in Ahmedpur and he died on Thursday while being taken to a government hospital in Latur, the official said.
