Leopard seen again in Sainik Farm area
New Delhi: Hours after officials urged residents to stay indoors after a leopard was spotted in south Delhi’s Sainik Farm area, the big cat was spotted for the second time at the same location. According to officials, police and forest department personnel are patrolling the area.
Officials said two teams of the forest department have been deployed to conduct search operations at the location. Earlier, a resident of the area told ANI that he saw the leopard around 8 am on Saturday, following which the police issued a warning asking residents to stay put. inside the house
“I saw the leopard around 8 am. A crowd of spectators had gathered at the spot and the leopard was probably running here and there out of fear. He was about 20 feet away from me. Then he ran away towards the forest area. As soon as we tried to catch him, he ran away towards the police station, later reappearing in the forest. Forest department teams are here since morning. The leopard attacked an old man who suffered minor head injuries,” the resident told ANI.
Forest officials said they have made arrangements to capture the leopard.
Subodh Kumar, an official at Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary, told ANI, “We received a complaint that a leopard was seen here at night. The local police has also shared a video. We have laid a trap for the leopard.”
