Liquor baron Naveen Kedia arrested, was hiding in Goa

Raipur. Naveen Kedia, a liquor businessman and operator of Chhattisgarh Distillery, has been arrested by the Jharkhand ACB team. The team apprehended him from Goa. An investigation was underway against the businessman under the Prevention of Corruption Act and he had been absconding for a long time.

The ACB had already issued an arrest warrant against him. Following his arrest, the ACB is now in the process of bringing him from Goa to Ranchi on transit remand. Upon his arrival in Ranchi, the accused will be taken on remand and interrogated, which is expected to yield important information about the network and transactions related to the liquor scam. Naveen Kedia’s name is also implicated in the liquor scam in Chhattisgarh. Naveen Kedia, operator of Chhattisgarh Distillery, is accused of supplying liquor to the syndicate and receiving a commission of ₹243.72 crore.

Businessman Naveen Kedia had filed a bail petition in court to avoid arrest. However, the ACB apprehended him before that could be done. According to the investigating agency, this case is related to the tenure of former Principal Secretary of Excise and Prohibition Department, Vinay Kumar Choubey.
