Liquor worth lakhs seized under code of conduct, police took major action
Raigarh. Regarding the Model Code of Conduct, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, the police is keeping an eye on those selling and transporting liquor illegally in all the police station areas. Yesterday, swift action was taken against illegal liquor in various police station areas of the district, in which 158 liters of country and English liquor worth Rs 73,520 was seized from 9 accused in 7 cases. Two cars and a scooter used to transport liquor were also seized.
Accused Suleman Lakda, 22 years, Sant Vinoba Nagar Ward No. 34 Raigarh, who was selling ganja in a house in Jutmill police station area, was caught. 1.21 kg ganja was seized from him. While enforcing the code of conduct in effect in the district, Kharsia police last night, while checking vehicles at Raigarh Chowk, caught a large amount of cash being transported in three four-wheelers. A total of Rs 11,54,693 in cash was seized from the three vehicles. Similarly, action was taken against 08 accused in drugs case, in which drugs worth Rs 83,020 were seized. During yesterday’s operation, property and cash worth approximately Rs 27 lakh were recovered.
